Phase Contrast Options – Olympus microscopes.
The Olympus CX21 microscope is always purchased as a ‘bright field’ unit, with 10x eyepieces and 4x, 10x and 40x objectives, offering magnification of 40, 100 and 400 times. An effective and economic option is to simply add a 20x phase contrast objective (there is a fourth place for this objective). This requires a centring telescope (CT5) to align the phase rings, and a phase ring condenser (PH1).
20x objective is $425, PH1 $90 and CT5 $176 (making full phase set up for 200x magnification is $691).
A 10x phase objective can be used with the PH1 (additional $295).
40x phase objective is $527 and requires a different phase ring (PH2) for 980.
To switch between 10x/20x phase objectives and 40x phase requires the simple substitution of the PH1 with a PH2, which clicks into a seat under the stage.
Olympus CX41 with phase contrast ring and phase on 10X/20X/40X objectives with trinocular head – approximately $4,950
Integrated warm stage $1,650
Video camera and mounts $1,240
Warm Stage options for CX21
- Warm stage (110mm x 110m, with centre hole) plus temperature controller. This plate sits on top of existing stage (slide movers must be removed from microscope). Slide is moved by hand - from $525
- Integrated warm stage (stage must be removed and sent to Germany for installation – 4 weeks/$1,480). The original stage is returned to the microscope and reassembled – containing heating elements and temperature controller box.
Kruss Microscopes from Minitube with integrated warm stage and phase contrast from $2,500 (information to follow)
